Data recovery is usually necessary when a software or hardware problem occurs.

SOFTWARE PROBLEM
The most common cause of computer problems is software. Viruses, malware, or improperly configured programs are often the source of either loss of data or system shutdown. To remedy these problems, either the software can be scanned and fixed, or it is necessary to backup data and reload the operating system back to it's original state. In the case that you have backed up your data and/or "imaged your drive," this process can be quick and painless.

HARDWARE PROBLEM
Hard drives can fail over time. When the hard drive containing your operating system fails, you will not be able to boot your computer, or will only be able to do so occassionally. In this case, special data recovery is neccessary, and may not be completely successful. My Computer At Work uses a specialist to recover data that has become inaccessible as a result of physical deterioration.

Data recovery can also be necessary when other components of a computer have failed, or are no longer usable. We can transfer the data from your computer to another media such as CD, DVD, portable hard drive, or a new internal hard drive.
